Gamebryo(as stated above) is a terrible engine. Just be careful about dropping items and such. My characters mostly clock in 25 and it's 6.9mb. Save file from what i noticed grows by the hour or depending on how you play, grows on how you play.
How ppl play the DLCs and get 100%? Just patience, no other way to reduce save file size? Just to contribute with numbers to anybody's research. So, the raw = 2,2 mb the speed run (3h game following strictly the guide) 5 mb my char now lvl 16 exploring and doing many stuff 7,8mb.
I don't have DLC's installed and my raw save got 2,2 mb. As soon i could move, getting up from doc's bed, i saved. I also created a new game and saved before SPECIAL distribution just to see a "raw" file size. Ok, so it's really necessary a lvl 20+ char to complete DLC's quests and trophies? Cause, if it is, there no way to get high lvl WITHOUT MOVE A LITTLE STONE or do nothing. I got, everything counts, just breath counts. Even clear chache trick just works as a charm before 10mb limit, as i understand and some post before here said.
